Our Story

Hello there! My name is Niki Motz and I am the owner of Kit Well. With the help of my family, I launched Kit Well in 2024 here in Bloomington, Indiana. The idea for Kit Well was born many years earlier when I was a new mother working as a nurse in a college town. It was a long road to get here, but after years of dreaming and growing I finally realized Kit Well truly needed to exist.

When I returned to work after maternity leave I met many college-age “kids” when they were sick. I felt the same concern for them that I felt for my own children when they were sick. I taught them how to take care of themselves at home with warm soups, tea, honey, throat lozenges, etc. and then I sent them back “home” to a dorm room or apartment that likely didn’t have those items in stock. Since many students don’t have access to a car, I often considered driving to the store to pick up remedies for them so they would have the tools they needed to take care of themselves. I wanted them to feel supported the way they would at home.

Then 2020 came and many people all over the world were isolated and sick at home. Friends, neighbors, and family had to check in on each other but keep at a safe distance. I realized then that it wasn’t just college students who sometimes need a special delivery full of remedies to help them feel a little better.

The Kit Well kits you see in the shop have been thoughtfully curated based on my experiences as a nurse and a mother. Being sick sometimes is a part of being alive, but I like to think that I can do something to bring a little bit of misery to an end. That’s the belief that drives me. I’m grateful for all the people and experiences I’ve had that brought Kit Well to life- and I’m grateful to you for reading this story. Thank you for being here. Take good care.
